Basic Vegetable Stew

I've been used to many various stews right here within the UK - from a tasty beef stew made from lean cuts of beef with added vegetables to a light summer time stew made from backyard vegetables.

Dried Soup Mix.

I used a special soup combine of various peas and beans as the bottom for the broth. This combine included:


pearl barley

yellow break up peas


inexperienced cut up peas

marrowfat peas


crimson cut up lentils

aduki beans


Soak in a single day for best outcomes or soak for a few hours earlier than cooking to soften up.

Celery and Pearl Barley


Celery accommodates many vitamins and minerals and also helps stop inflammation of the digestive tract.

Peas and Beans and Lentils

Cook in medium oven for 20 minutes

Ready in: 1 hour forty five min


Yields: serves 4/5

Vegetarian Stew with Dumplings

3/4 cups soup combine, dried peas,beans,pearl barley


6-eight sticks celery, chopped

6-8 medium carrots, chopped


6-eight potatoes, diced

2-3 cloves garlic, crushed


2 small onions, chopped

6-8 spring onions, chopped


3/four bay leaves

Make The Dumplings


Lightly combine using a fork 1 cup of self raising - all function - flour with three tablespoons of butter.

Pour one third cup of milk into mixture and make a tough dough.


Form into dumpling balls.

Carefully spoon into stew or:

this seems nice! I like the pliability of a soup mix--most likely regional, too, proper?--and the photographs/layout/instructions are crisp and clean and interesting.
