fluffy pancake recipe

This is one of the best pancake recipes I've come across, delivering perfect results every time. I make these pancakes in one bowl and vary them by using different kinds of flour.

Whether served plain or with additional ingredients, these pancakes turn out fluffy and flavorful. Served with homemade hot syrup, they are delicious. While you can buy pre-packed pancakes, it takes just minutes to make your own. With the added benefit that you control the ingredients. See the recipe below and the suggestions for adding extra nutrition when making these pancakes.

Drop on a hot greased griddle or flat pan and turn pancakes over when air bubbles start to form. This recipe can be doubled or tripled for a larger batch of pancakes. Serve pancakes with hot syrup. Simmer sugar and water together until lightly boiling. This helps syrup to thicken and it will thicken further as it cools.

Remove from heat and add maple flavoring. Use while still warm. Note: syrup can still be made if you don't have maple flavoring. Remove from heat and add butter for extra richness. If you wish to make your pancakes with wholesome ingredients, this recipe can be easily adapted. Simply substitute half or all of the white flour for whole wheat flour, Kamut flour, rye flour or any flour of your choosing.

If you can find organic, all the better. Pancakes taste good, whether made with white flour or with a whole grain flour; however, whole grains offer better nutrition, so it's a good idea to try different flours. Some cooks prefer to buy their own organic grain and grind the kernels to produce their own flour for making pancakes.

Pancakes made with organic ground whole grain flours are a meal in themselves and will nourish the body for hours. If you use whole grains, adjust liquid amounts for desired consistency because batter will be denser. Most children love pancakes and it's easy to sneak in extra nutrition. I felt like I was going to throw up. Later my friend got out the syrup bottle to tease me and I totally freaked. This didn't happen before, but now it's like every nerve in my body is screaming at me to run for my life. And it definently doesn't help that I have always hated sticky things. Now everyone knows about my fear and I get teased all the time. Yeay, converts to HAMS! Gigi, I'm so sorry that your heart is hurting.

It's awesome that you enjoy real syrup so much and I wouldn't dream of depriving you of it, but I'm also REAAAALLY glad that Maine is far, far away from me. JC, I'm sure they'll forgive you. We don't demand great social upheaval, we just want to be heard. And to have the freedom to run away. This post is amazing! When I make instant oatmeal at work (maple syrup flavoured) my peers get totally grossed out by the smell. They hate the smell of maple syrup. Apologies to my co-workers!

I'm shocked, so shocked! I thought everyone loved maple syrup. Oh, you're breaking my heart with this hub, even though it's really funny! I love maple syrup so much that I'm writing a hub about it right now. It's maple sugar-production season here in Maine for the next couple of weeks, so all the sugar shacks are open and people are visiting to watch the sap being boiled. It's heaven to me, but I have a feeling you'd really hate it!

I have to say, though, that that stuff that comes out of a Mrs. Butterworth's bottle bears no relation to real maple syrup! I'm not the only one! Very funny. I will only eat maple syrup. Barbara, you are too sweet! But not in a syruppy sort of way AT ALL. Thank you so much for your kind words. No, I haven't been writing lots, but at least my momma is being prolific! I have to wait until the spark is lit, so to speak, and all my kindling has been soggy lately. Have a great day!
