Feeding A Child With An Egg Allergy
My lens focuses on kid-friendly foods and recipes. Feeding children is hard enough sometimes, but when a child has a special dietary need, it can be an overwhelming task. Foods need to be easy to find or make, inexpensive, and (most importantly) tasty to a child's palate! I hope this information will come as handy to you as it has to me! It can be hard to tell, but that is where I hope this lens will help. Pasta - Egg noodles, macaroni, spaghetti - watch out for pastas that are enriched with omega-3s. Sometimes, this ingredient comes from eggs. Also be diligent about reading labels. Most food labels list the top 7 most common allergenic foods in bold at the end of the ingredient list (eggs are required to be listed). Some people with severe allergies may also need to consider if a product has been manufactured in a facility where eggs are kept to prevent cross-contamination.
Earth's Best Organics has a mini waffle (with Sesame Street on the cover) that does not use eggs in the product - but the facility is one that uses eggs in other products. The company prides themselves on safety practices to prevent cross-contamination though! Vans brand makes a vegan waffle (no eggs), that I was able to find in my local Super Bi-Lo. Beware of their Belgian waffle, however - it contains eggs.
I just learned of a company called "Ians Natural Foods" that sells an egg-free french toast stick. Tyson chicken nuggets do not contain egg products. I am so happy to find a soft pretzel that is egg-free. Arbys lists all menu items and their content of allergens such as eggs, fish, milk, peanuts, soybeans, treanuts, wheat, gluten and MSG.
A very comprehensive site for allergic children. McDonald's doesn't have the simple chart that Arby's has, but in this ingredient list for popular menu items, McDonald's puts allergen ingredients in BOLD. Another great blogspot on Eating Out with Allergies. It doesn't specifically speak to Egg-Allergies, but has some helpful links to restaurant guides!

Even though this site focuses on milk allergies, the links to the restaurant allergy information (both USA and Canada) are very helpful! Lots and Lots of great information on many food allergies! This site has wonderful resources about traveling with allergies, particularly abroad. You can customize and print a pocket card for allergies in many different languages. Rosalia August 8, 2018, 11:52 am This morning, I tried this recipe of these Pan Cakes, they are absolutely delicious, fluffy, easy to make, and my children loved them.
I even add some cinnamon to some and cocoa to others, they came out fantastic! Thank you for the recipe, it has become my favourite!
