Garlic Sauce Recipe
Hands-on Time

Total Time

Yield
Serves 4 (serving size: 1 fillet contributing to 2 tablespoons sauce)
Incredibly simple, remarkably delicious-this can be an entrée that's elegant enough for entertaining and fast enough to decorate weeknight dinner doldrums. Garnish with parsley sprigs, if desired.
Ingredients
3 tablespoons quick-mixing flour (for example Wondra)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1/3 cup unsalted chicken stock (for example Swanson)
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1 tablespoon fresh freshly squeezed lemon juice
Nutritional Information
Step 1
Sprinkle fish with salt and pepper. Place flour inside a shallow dish. Dredge either side of fish in flour; reserve unused flour. Heat a big skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon butter and oil to pan; swirl to coat. Add fish to pan; cook 2 minutes on all sides or until fish flakes easily when tested using a fork. Remove from pan; keep warm.
Step 2
Add reserved flour and garlic to pan; cook 90 seconds or until lightly browned, stirring constantly. Add wine and stock, stirring which has a whisk; provide for a boil. Cook 2 minutes or until slightly thickened. Remove pan from heat; stir in remaining 1 tablespoon butter, parsley, and fresh lemon juice. Serve fish with sauce.

This is definitely an excellent fish dish. Quick, easy, and flavorful. But I should agree with other reviewers that merely adding the rest of the flour to your pan results in the very pasty sauce. I think a couple teaspoons of flour would have been a better ratio for that sauce. For this reason, I only gave it 4 stars instead od 5.

Tasty. I agree there exists too much flour for your sauce - I had to include some extra broth also it lumped up a tad. Next time, I'll mix the flour together with the wine/broth first you can add it towards the pan roasted garlic. We used this which has a thicker white fish, so I think the tilapia will probably be delicious too.

My sauce would be a goopy mess, possibly because I used all-purpose flour, possibly because I had your baby hanging off my leg and didn't whisk it fast enough. But the flavor was great. I'll probably repeat the process.

This was delicious. I, too, hasn't been going to pass quick mixing flour for this type of minimal amount so I subbed all-purpose and yes it turned out amazing. It's not one I'll make again, even though I save the absolute best, however it was memorable!

Made this for your first time tonight! 1. Super Simple. 2. Tasted like something I would get in a very restaurant. 3. Kids (ages 4 and 12) gobbled up and wanted more. I are going to be making this again. Served it with rice and fresh green beans. Perfect light summer meal. Squeeze a bit lemon within the fish before eating it.

There wasn't anything wrong using this type of recipe - it is great, simply not terribly exciting. We managed to make it with walleye we only caught and my father thought it was perfect, plus it does permit the flavor from the fish to become the star. I prefer my food just a little more richly spiced, but also for people who as it mild, this might be perfect. Was simple and fast to do. Served with grilled corn with spicy lime butter plus a green salad.
